Rainsville – Lewis Gabriel Allen, 84, of Greencastle died at 2:08 p.m. Monday Sept 29 in Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, shortly after arrival.  Mr. Allen was a farmer and a carpenter most of his life.  He also drove a school bus for 15 years for Metropolitan School District of Warren County retiring in 1987. Before that he was a driver for Rainsville and Pine Village schools. Born near Covington on April 10, 1913, he lived in the Rainsville area for 51 years before moving to Greencastle.  He married Elinor E. Kenworthy on April 18, 1935, in Crawfordsville and she survives. Mr. Allen attended and was very active in the Greencastle Christian Church. Very active in music, he played saxophone, fiddle and banjo, was in a band and entertained for nursing homes. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Karen Ann Schneider of Rt 4, Attica and Mrs. Ted (Kathy S) Willer of Greencastle and two sisters, Myrtle Martin of Brownsburg and Eva Lientz of Springfield.

“Funeral Notice” Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, after 5 p.m. Friday. Funeral service 11 am. Saturday at Hickman Heights Christian Church, the Revs. David G. Finney and Mark P. Adams officiating.  Interment West Lebanon Cemetery. Four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren survive.  His parents, 2 brother and 3 sisters preceded in death. - kbz
